DentalMonitoring was launched in 2014 by CEO Phillipe Salah, who serves as the CEO of the company, as a company that brings dentists and orthodontists the world’s first remote monitoring solutions. The company was formed after American Orthodontics purchased the lingual orthodontics system Harmony, which Salah co-founded.

“Our technology seeks to eliminate the need for unnecessary non-clinical dental and orthodontic visits,” says Dr. Sophie Acker, VP of Global Product Management and Business Intelligence, DentalMonitoring. “Our main focus is to help dental professionals synchronize the patients’ need for care and the clinical act, thanks to more frequent monitoring of the progress of their treatment, through an AI-powered virtual solution.”

Commercial sales of DentalMonitoring products began in 2017 after three years of R&D, product development and software engineering. Today, DentalMonitoring operates in 53 countries, with offices in Europe, the USA, Australia and China, and they regard their diversity as a source of empowerment. At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the company saw a worldwide increase in patients monitored with their solutions as office closures created a need for practices to remotely track patient progress. Theirs was the only solution fitted to assist providers and help them maintain the level of care they have always brought to their patients. Since practices have re-opened, DentalMonitoring’s solutions have continued to help doctors scale, navigate new growth and create one workflow for their entire practice.

“Collaboration is our key to success, as well as a strong ability to adapt our projects to the real needs of our customers and their patients,” Dr. Sophie said. DentalMonitoring is driven by passion, boldness and humility.

“Joining our team means embarking on a journey where excellence is paired with a great team spirit; where learning and sharing are the roots for professional and personal development.”

DentalMonitoring has developed a portfolio of solutions for dental professionals that allows for more practice efficiency and a great patient experience. With more than 200 patents and the largest intraoral pictures database in the dental industry, the company brings innovative tools to make dental and orthodontic care more accessible and convenient. DentalMonitoring’s AI-powered platform can help analyze, detect and report on more than 130 oral observations using images taken with a smartphone. Thanks to this automation process, dental professionals can prioritize chair time for patients who need hands-on clinical expertise and offer more convenience and flexibility to all those who don’t require any clinical intervention.

DentalMonitoring has also created a French program called Oralien: it’s been developed with the UFSBD (French oral care federation) and aims at monitoring disabled and elderly people directly from their nursing homes. This fragile population is particularly affected by oral problems, and the logistical difficulty of scheduling office appointments puts them at great risk of leaving these issues untreated. Remote monitoring, which can be performed from wherever the patient is and eliminates the logistics risks, is designed to help them avoid treatment delinquency and increase their chance at better oral health outcomes.

DentalMonitoring’s cutting-edge AI can achieve such an advanced level of analysis, detection and reporting because of the amount of time, work and effort that went into training it. Dr. Sophie and the rest of the team at DentalMonitoring credit this achievement to one simple principle: commitment to excellence.

“More than 170 team members, including developers, scientists and orthodontists, have been working on the system for more than seven years now, and we keep pushing boundaries to provide better information, whether from qualitative or quantitative perspectives,” concludes Dr. Sophie.
